Black Pearl has a displacement steel hull and aluminium superstructure. Moreover, it comes with composite desks and was built to Lloyds Register classification society rules. The yacht’s design is made on the foundations of the 96-meter dynarig project by Ken Freivokh.

The project was primarily run by Nuvolari Lenard, but his contract was cancelled and Freivokh finalized the project. This is the first sailing yacht for Oceanco and it’s 106 m (348 ft) long.

Dynarig System

The Dynarig System is the safest, most efficient, and high-performance sailing system. The Black Pearl features a 3 mast Dynarigsystem. The masts are freestanding with the yards attached rigidly to the masts. The entire masts rotate in place to adjust the angle of the sails. Hence, the sails are without gaps between them which creates a single panel to capture the wind. It is believed to have twice the efficiency of a traditional square rig.

Dykstra Naval Architects designed these three 70m (230ft) tall DynaRig carbon masts. The masts support 2,900 square meters of sail. This yacht can start sailing in just seven minutes.

Fuel Free

Black Pearl will run completely fuel-free because the yacht will be powered by the sun and the wind. It will sail without burning a drop of diesel but just under the right conditions. This is so because its propellers are dragged through the water and they spin up to create efficient generators.

However, the yacht also has a hybrid diesel-electric system as an addition to wind power. In fact, Black Pearl has 2 x 1080kW MTU’s linked to 2 x 400kW electrical propulsion motors.

Speed

The Black Pearl can go 17.5 knots under power, faster under sail. The right condition can even provide a possibility of 30 knots.

In fact, there are two VIP suites, one master suite, a full beam beach club which converts into a cinema, and two double guest cabins. The yacht comes with an all-glass lift too. Likewise, it has a beach club, a swimming platform, underwater lights, air conditioning, jacuzzi, and tender garage.
